New Year’s Eve

New Years EveGenre: Romantic Comedy
Released: 2011

Rating: ★★☆☆☆

Why can’t every romantic comedy be like “Love, Actually”; concise, funny, well-written, anti-cliche and not bragging about the number of celebrities in the film. Richard Curtis created a picture-perfect rom-com world with great performances, a great script and just an all around, great movie. There wasn’t a single cheesy or uncomfortable moment and the celebrity status of the film wasn’t over bearing. Garry Marshall pretty much does the exact opposite here, basing the film around the celebrity and not the character. There are a couple of story elements I enjoyed and “New Years Eve” has great heart but not enough for you to shell out money to see it in a theatre. There are just way too many awkward, uncomfortable and cheesy moments that will make you squirm in your seat. Read the Full Review
