Love and Other Drugs

Genre: Comedy/Romance
Released: 2010

Rating: ★★★★½

Lumping Love and Other Drugs into the romantic comedy category should be a crime. Yes, there is romance and yes there is comedy. Though, on top of that, you have deep emotion and connection between two characters that you will immediately fall in love with. Director Edward Zwick found a perfect balance between a raunchy romantic comedy and a film that hits you in the gut with emotions. I guess you could say the same about certain Judd Apatow flicks but this movie has much more of an emotional punch. Performance-wise, Love and Other Drugs contains Jake Gyllenhaal’s best performance of his career so far. I knew the kid could act but I had no clue he had this much of an emotional range. Yes, he was great in Brokeback Mountain but this role hit me much harder. Love and Other Drugs is a film for all audiences and I promise you will laugh, you will cry and you will fall in love.
